It's not about me
After graduating at the Netherlands Film Academy completing the studies Editing and Sound, I developed my editing skills working on 16mm and 35mm film when non-linear edit systems made its appearance. Being computer minded, it was a natural step to cutting my first projects on an Avid Media Composer in 1994.
In 1998 I started my own Amsterdam based company focusing on editing and finishing commercials. That same year I edited 8 ½ Women, my first feature film and collaboration with Peter Greenaway. It turned out to be the start of a long living work relationship which led to working on a diversity of projects – a joyful exploration of unknown territories and a source of inspiration.
During my career, I have edited feature films, documentaries, television series, commercials, trailers, video for art installations, theatre and operas. I believe that the cross-fertilization of those projects, while getting the most out of the raw material, is key to getting the most out of myself to benefit the project.
I am attracted to unconventional projects, like Goltzius and the Pelican Company. I was encouraged to create many 3D effects while editing this film to give it a graphical look. I have a strong sense of music and like creating filmic rhythms, skills that I was also able to apply while editing documentaries.
Over the years I contributed to many art installations, theatre and opera productions directed by Saskia Boddeke who is another great source of inspiration. These projects often require a flexible edit approach and a high-quality finish on location. I like those challenges and feel comfortable with that responsibility.
In my free time, I am a volunteer at the Repair Café in Hilversum, spend time exploring 3d printing and home automation, flying and filming with my drone, experimenting with Arduino projects. I have as well created the website of my badminton club that I maintain.

Tools
to fulfill my creative needs
Film Editing
Since 1994 the Avid Media Composer is my main edit tool. I also used of Final Cut Pro for many years. During the analogue editing era I edited 16mm and 35mm film on a Steenbeck.
Compositing
I like to make image compositions and they often interact with my edits. I make use of Adobe After Effects or Davinci Resolve Studio. Sometimes I use for graphical projects my personal secret: Apple Motion.
Graphic Design
I mainly use Adobe Photoshop to work on still images or to create title layouts and complex masks for compositing.
3D
While working on art projects I found it very useful to create 3D content and integrate it with the edit. Cinema 4D gives me the possibility to enrich images and solve problems.
Tracking
To track footage and solve the camera I use SynthEyes. It gives me the most control and best results to integrate 3D objects or graphic elements.
Experiment
I am always open for trying new things and taking an unpaved path and learn. I dove into Unity with the Unreal Engine and created my first App containing an explorable 3D space to support an architectural project.
